About The Position

The Sr. Category Manager will provide support for Amazon’s physical retail locations and initiatives through strategic planning, cross-functional project management, and marketing execution. They will work with business leaders to develop and execute on short- and long-term strategies and collaborate with internal stakeholders to build processes allowing us to scale. The ideal candidate possesses experience in buying, marketing, and/or finance, with a track record of successful relationship management, strong analytical acumen, and experience generating and managing reporting and analysis. Additionally, the candidate with have experience managing the strategic aspects of physical retail stores. Great communication skills and data-driven analysis will be essential to your success. We’re looking for a self-starter who will take ownership of business problems to a successful result.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of with Excel experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of professional or military experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL
  • Experience with business analysis and P&L management

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using data to influence business decisions
  • Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
  • 2+ years of account management, brand management, performance marketing, digital marketing, sales or consulting experience
  • Experience in physical retail store management

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional partners across marketing, supply chain, merchandising, category and vendor management to establish best practices and procedures; proactively identify blockers to remove.
  • Partner with Marketing to create opportunities for growth, customer acquisition, and brand-building for multiple sub-categories
  • Identify areas of risk to project timelines, and escalate to program leadership in a timely manner.
  • Drive physical store process improvements; enable streamlining to achieve operational excellence, benchmarking, and development and tracking of key performance metrics.
  • Consistently challenge practices to ensure the team is consistently raising the bar on its performance and operational excellence.
  • Audit metrics regularly, determine and prioritize business opportunities, identify risks and make recommendations to pursue
  • Identify industry trends and develop innovative marketing and merchandising initiatives to support growth
  • Conduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and goals for the Amazon Grocery physical stores, co-located with Whole Foods Market locations
  • Analyze weekly and monthly performance metrics and manage communication with stakeholders to hit financial targets, during weekly business reviews
  • Partner with category managers and trade planning to coordinate promotional activity, space allocation, pricing, productivity analysis, and forecasting
