The Senior Calibration Technician is the highest-level technician position, requiring a minimum of six years of commercial calibration experience. This role involves calibrating, troubleshooting, and adjusting higher-level equipment across multiple disciplines, with expert knowledge in at least three. Senior Calibration Technicians work independently in labs or at customer sites. As a Team Lead, this position is a strategic member of the lab management team, on a career path to leadership, and requires strong interpersonal skills to manage and lead others. CCT or CMT certification is desired.

  • Associates degree from college or technical school, or 6+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working within ISO 17025 and exposure responding to assessment bodies in the ISO 17025 accreditation.
  • Advanced understanding of creating, maintaining, and editing uncertainty budgets.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of six (6) years commercial calibration experience preferred
  • Expert knowledge in three (3) disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional, or Pressure)
  • Proficiency and expertise determined in accordance with Transcat’s technician skills progression matrix
  • CCT or CMT certification is desired
  • Work effectively with lab support staff
  • Working knowledge and competency in eight (8) disciplines and expert in three (3) disciplines preferred
  • Six+ (6+) years of commercial calibration experience
  • CCT or CMT certification
  • Extensive statistical background
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills
  • Completion of appropriate leadership or management coursework
  • Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics

Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration work with little to no supervision
  • Train, advise, and lead lower-level technicians
  • Assist in production management, training, automation and leadership of key processes within the lab
  • Partner with lab management on process improvement and strategic initiatives
  • Conduct independent research when necessary
  • Coordinate and manage daily workloads without direction from manager
  • Identify and utilize appropriate measurement techniques
  • Maintain calibration standards
  • Understand and apply uncertainties to measurements made
  • Be able to read and interpret labs’ scopes of accreditation
  • Work effectively with lab support staff
  • Perform calibrations within a laboratory or customer onsite setting
  • Work at customer on-sites with little to no direction
  • Fulfill duties safely under working conditions, in keeping with Company requirements and standards
  • Call upon high-level skills, techniques, and processes to calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust a high volume of high-level equipment with few errors
  • Coordinate work schedule for the lab
  • Prepare detailed analysis of calibration processes and uncertainties
  • Develop and implement process improvements
  • Develop lower-level technicians
  • Deliver on Transcat’s Quality Policy (QAC-F01-001)
  • Demonstrate team lead skills and responsibilities
  • Develop skills necessary to advance in leadership roles in Transcat
