About The Position

The Sr. Business Systems Architect translates business strategy, operating models, processes, data needs, market requirements, and regulatory obligations into business and functional systems architectures that enable business outcomes while maximizing platform reuse and minimizing complexity and operational risk. The role defines capabilities, end-to-end process and system views, functional requirements, solution options, and traceability frameworks for market expansion and regional initiatives. The architect partners with Enterprise, Solution, Data, Integration, Security, and Infrastructure Architects, who retain accountability for detailed technical design and approval, to maintain architecture continuity from discovery through implementation and stabilization. The role supports cross-functional delivery and market readiness, balancing enterprise standards with regional or local-market requirements. The position is hybrid, with four days in the office and one day remote, and may require occasional travel for workshops, vendor sessions, or market-readiness activities.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in business systems architecture, business or solution architecture, business systems analysis, product/platform delivery, technology consulting, or enterprise transformation.
  • At least 3 years leading complex cross-functional architecture or transformation initiatives.
  • Experience in captive automotive finance or a closely related auto-lending environment, including end-to-end knowledge of dealer and customer journeys across application intake, credit decisioning, pricing, contracting, funding, servicing, payments, collections, accounting, and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience translating business strategy, operating models, processes, data needs, controls, and market requirements into capability models, functional requirements, integrated system views, solution options, and phased transition roadmaps.
  • Experience partnering across application, integration, data, cybersecurity, infrastructure, risk, compliance, finance, operations, vendor, and project/program teams from discovery through implementation and stabilization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of captive auto-finance capabilities, processes, customer and dealer journeys, and the relationships among origination, servicing, payments, collections, finance, risk, compliance, reporting, and data.
  • Ability to connect strategy, capabilities, value streams, processes, policies, information needs, applications, integrations, vendors, controls, and organizational ownership into coherent current- and target-state views.
  • Strong functional architecture and systems-thinking skills, with sufficient technical depth to collaborate with architects and engineers on APIs, integrations, data flows, identity, environments, security, scalability, resiliency, and operational support.
  • Ability to lead ambiguous discovery, structure complex problems, define functional requirements and acceptance outcomes, assess impacts and dependencies, and present practical options with clear assumptions, risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Strong facilitation, executive communication, presentation, negotiation, documentation, decision-making, and stakeholder-management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority, establish architecture continuity and traceability, work across organizational and geographic boundaries, and balance enterprise standards with regional or local-market requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, maintain reusable architecture and decision artifacts, and guide analysts and project teams.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for workshops, vendor sessions, or market-readiness activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting new-market entry, regional rollout, product launch, legal-entity setup, or multi-jurisdiction implementation, including fit-gap, localization, dependency, readiness, and change-impact assessments.
  • Management consulting, architecture consulting, or large-scale enterprise transformation experience, including executive decision support and architecture governance.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Project Management Professional (PMP), SAFe, or equivalent analysis or delivery credentials.
  • Knowledge of lending/origination, CRM and dealer platforms, decision engines, document management, payment platforms, servicing systems, ERP/accounting platforms, data and reporting solutions, and third-party financial-services integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of end-to-end business and functional systems architectures connecting business strategy, capabilities, value streams, processes, information needs, applications, integrations, controls, and organizational ownership.
  • Translate company goals, customer and dealer needs, operating-model requirements, and market constraints into current- and target-state capability models, process and system landscapes, functional interaction views, and transition roadmaps.
  • Define the business capabilities and functional outcomes systems must support, identify opportunities to reuse or extend existing platforms, and partner with technical architects to determine implementation approaches.
  • Translate business objectives into architecture principles, functional requirements, business rules, information and integration needs, control requirements, nonfunctional business expectations, and acceptance outcomes.
  • Establish traceability from business objectives and capabilities through processes, requirements, affected systems, data, controls, and implementation outcomes.
  • Perform fit-gap, dependency, complexity, readiness, and change-impact assessments to identify process, configuration, integration, data, vendor, platform, and organizational changes.
  • Collaborate with technical architects and delivery teams to incorporate business and functional considerations into technical specifications, solution designs, and engineering decisions.
  • Develop reusable market-readiness frameworks, business capability models, functional reference patterns, decision criteria, and localization approaches for origination, credit, contracting, funding, servicing, payments, collections, accounting, reporting, dealer integration, customer communications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess enterprise capabilities and platforms for reuse, configuration, extension, or localization; document architecture decisions, tradeoffs, assumptions, dependencies, risks, and phased options; and partner with Enterprise and Solution Architects to align technical designs with enterprise standards and approved roadmaps.
  • Govern alignment of delivered capabilities to approved business outcomes, functional architecture, requirements, and documented decisions.
  • Maintain architecture continuity across discovery, planning, implementation, testing, and stabilization; support prioritization, sequencing, and change control; and validate that business capabilities, processes, controls, and acceptance outcomes are addressed.
  • Partner with Enterprise and technical architects on technical conformance and design approval, and with Product, Project, Program, and Technical Delivery leaders on planning, execution, resources, schedule, and implementation quality.
  • Communicate architecture recommendations, functional solution options, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs to technical, non-technical, and executive stakeholders.
  • Facilitate cross-functional decisions involving business functions, Digital, regional stakeholders, OEM, distributor and dealer partners, third-party providers, and architecture teams.
  • Maintain capability models, process and system views, functional blueprints, decision records, traceability artifacts, assumptions, risks, and lessons learned to promote consistency and reuse.
  • Provide business systems architecture guidance and mentorship to analysts and project teams.
  • Manage multiple priorities independently and travel occasionally for workshops, vendor sessions, or market-readiness activities.
