About The Position

As a Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst at Caribou Coffee, you will own end-to-end analytics workstreams that transforming enterprise, transaction, and guest data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions, optimize same-store sales, traffic, and ticket performance, and deepen guest engagement across our company-operated, franchised, and non-traditional channels. This role contributes to enterprise reporting and analytics by delivering timely, accurate, and compelling insights that support strategic planning, marketing and product innovation, and brand growth. You will collaborate with Marketing, Product Innovation, Operations, Finance, Loyalty/CRM, and franchise partners, ensuring data is leveraged effectively to drive business outcomes in a fast-paced QSR environment. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, a passion for storytelling with data, comfort working with large transactional datasets, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to solve complex business challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, Marketing, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–6 years of experience (typically 2–4 years for Analyst; 4–6+ years for Senior Analyst) in business intelligence, analytics, or reporting, preferably in QSR, retail, hospitality, or CPG.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), Excel, and intermediate-to-advanced SQL (joins, window functions, CTEs) against a cloud data warehouse.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present data in a clear, compelling manner, including senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated ownership — ability to scope ambiguous business questions, structure the analysis, and deliver a recommendation independently (required for Senior Analyst level).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams with data-driven insights.
  • Direct experience in QSR, restaurant, or coffee — familiarity with POS data, store-level P&Ls, daypart and mix analysis, and franchise vs. company-operated dynamics.
  • Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse.
  • Experience with loyalty/CRM and customer data and segmentation methodologies.
  • Exposure to syndicated data sources and competitive benchmarking.
  • Familiarity with marketing measurement methods — incrementality testing, and pricing/promo analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze structured and unstructured data to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities across the business, the guest, product, store, and marketing channels.
  • Develop forecasts, predictive models, and test/control designs (e.g., A/B and matched-market tests) and scenario analyses to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that guide business priorities and performance improvement.
  • Monitor industry benchmarks and competitive trends to inform internal reporting and strategy.
  • Support the enterprise reporting strategy to ensure timely, actionable insights that support growth, strategic planning, and operational excellence.
  • Evaluate requests for new data and reports, define scope and effort, and align with organizational priorities.
  • Create and automate recurring reports and ad hoc analyses using Power BI and/or Tableau, SQL against our cloud data and Excel.
  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives that influence strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Champion data literacy across the organization by developing tools and resources that empower leaders and field operators to make informed decisions.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and IT to define and document core business metrics (transactions, comp sales, ticket, mix, attach rate), ensuring a single source of truth across reporting layers.
  • Partner closely with the VP of Marketing and Director of Product Innovation to inform product strategy, marketing effectiveness, and commercial performance.
  • Analyze sales trends, product performance, and guest purchasing behavior (mix, attach rate, daypart performance, basket composition) to identify growth opportunities and optimize assortment.
  • Evaluate marketing campaign effectiveness across digital, loyalty, and in-store channels — including the mobile app, email/SMS, paid media, and third-party delivery (DoorDash, Uber Eats), connecting business to brand strategy.
  • Deliver insights into pricing, promotions, and merchandising (price, LTO/new-product performance, bundle and combo analysis) to support revenue and margin optimization.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align product and marketing calendars with financial goals and guest expectations.
  • Develop reporting and dashboards that track marketing KPIs, product performance, Caribou Perks loyalty program health (enrollment, active members, frequency, ARPU, churn, redemption rates), and campaign ROI, enabling continuous improvement and strategic planning.
  • Build and maintain guest segmentation (RFM, lifecycle stages) to support personalization and 1:1 marketing in partnership with CRM/Loyalty.
