About The Position

The Sr. Business Development Associate is responsible for gathering and analyzing market data, conducting and participating in overhead budget cycles, maintaining accurate and complete M&BD prospect and financial records, and maintaining procedures and standards to support the long-term strategic goals of the Nuclear, Security and Environmental (NS&E) Global Business Unit (GBU). The Sr. Business Development Associate be able to interface effectively with NS&E Senior Management and others on a professional and knowledgeable level and is expected to be self-motivated and able to function in a team-based environment while under strict time constraints. This position reports to the NS&E Manager of Strategy, Marketing and Business Development (M&BD), and supports all NS&E business lines. "This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of at in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership” #LI-EH1

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Science, Technology or Math and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel (PivotTables) and SharePoint
  • Ability to concurrently and effectively manage multiple tasks of varying complexity
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple complex business processes with limited oversight
  • Working knowledge of general accounting principles
  • Ability to maintain accurate, thorough, and up-to-date records and documentation
  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Ability to work across all levels of NS&E Management; role requires the candidate to work effectively with NS&E Senior Management, M&BD Teams, Management Information, and Accounting
  • Ability to manipulate datasets from various internal and external sources (e.g., GovWin or CFAR)
  • Working knowledge of Bechtel financial systems (e.g. CFAR, JNI, Hyperion)

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with NS&E General Managers to set strategic goals and develop long-term objectives for the business.
  • Partners with the Manager of Strategy, Marketing and Business Development (M&BD), Business Line General Managers, Business Line Managers of M&BD, and Capture Managers in the development of strategic relationships and individual customer win strategies & planning.
  • Supports the M&BD organization in the daily administration, maintenance, and reporting on their respective overhead / PBD budgets.
  • Responsible for identifying growth opportunities, business model innovation and facilitating cross-business unit initiatives.
  • Monitor the U.S. Government federal spend and identify new markets/customers that might be viable to NS&E.
  • Coordinate with the Bechtel Washington D.C. office on potential new markets and provide insights into the business lines.
  • Conducts market research to support the GBU’s and Business Lines’ strategies.
  • Administers the M&BD Prospect Database (SharePoint site) and facilitates the periodic Prospect reporting cycle in coordination with the Manager of Strategy, Marketing and Business Development and the Business Line Managers of M&BD.
  • Monitors medium to long-term business trends/outlooks, gathering competitive intelligence to strategic business planning discussions and leadership.
  • Identifying and developing optimal leadership revenue models, sales/distribution channels, pricing and new product strategies.
  • Coordinates cross-GBU M&BD tasks.
  • Provides forecasts, reports, and analyses of M&BD budgets.
  • Prepares financial analysis, plans, studies and presentations.
  • Provides ad hoc financial support to the M&BD team which may require research and analysis across other departments.
  • Maintains accurate financial records, including processing corrections, developing and conducting financial spot-training, proposing process improvement changes, and staying current with government charging practices.
  • Provides independent research or manages the outsourcing of required research to support internal initiatives.
  • May perform special assignments related to business development activities.
