About The Position

Fiserv is hiring a Sr Backend Engineer for Clover, its point-of-sale and business management platform for small and medium-sized businesses. Clover processes more than 15 billion transactions annually. The role is part of the Payments team, which owns the core transaction platform and is building a highly reliable, low-latency transaction engine focused on correctness.

The engineer will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions aligned with business goals and client needs. The position includes participating in an on-call rotation to troubleshoot critical backend incidents, resolve API and microservice degradation, and support high availability of server-side infrastructure.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• 5+ years of deep Java development experience.
• 3+ years of experience with Spring Boot.
• 4+ years of experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP services.
• 3+ years of experience with SQL databases.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• 3+ years of experience with Agile methodologies.
• 5+ years of an equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience.
• 1+ years of experience working with AI platforms.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the payments domain or with eCommerce solutions.
• Experience with AI platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of software applications that support Clover's business goals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Code, test, and debug applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Maintain and improve existing codebases and lead peer review processes.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to troubleshoot critical backend incidents, resolve API and microservice degradation, and ensure high availability of server-side infrastructure.
