About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr AWS Migration Engineer to lead and execute complex cloud migration projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AWS migration strategies, tools, and best practices, with a proven track record of successfully migrating large-scale infrastructures and applications to AWS. This role involves working with various AWS services, infrastructure as code, and expertise in Microsoft and Windows workloads.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of infrastructure administration experience (Windows, networking, storage, virtualization).
Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on AWS migration delivery experience.
Experience with at least one datacenter exit or large-scale migration (100+ servers).
Deep understanding of the AWS Migration Framework (Assess, Mobilize, Migrate & Modernize phases) and the 7 R's migration strategies.
Hands-on experience with AWS Application Migration Service (MGN).
Hands-on experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for SQL Server migrations.
Experience with AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT) for heterogeneous migrations.
Familiarity with AWS Migration Hub.
Strong proficiency in Terraform for provisioning AWS infrastructure.
Experience with Windows Server administration on EC2, including licensing and Active Directory integration.
Experience migrating .NET applications to AWS.
Knowledge of SQL Server on AWS (EC2, RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL).
Experience with wave planning and application discovery & dependency mapping.
Experience with cutover planning, including rollback plans and downtime minimization.
Experience with RACI and stakeholder management.
Familiarity with MAP (Migration Acceleration Program) milestones and deliverables.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute AWS migration projects, focusing on the Assess, Mobilize, and Migrate & Modernize phases.
Utilize AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) for lift-and-shift rehosting of VMware VMs and physical servers.
Perform database migrations using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
Track migration progress using AWS Migration Hub and integrate with partner tools.
Migrate VMware workloads to AWS using AWS MGN, VM Import/Export, and AWS Transform.
Provision and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform, including landing zones, VPCs, subnets, security groups, and IAM roles.
Create and manage Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for standardized deployments.
Design and implement AWS networking solutions, including VPC design, Direct Connect/VPN setup, Route 53 DNS cutover, and hybrid connectivity.
Migrate .NET Framework applications to AWS, either through rehosting or refactoring to .NET Core/Linux.
Manage SQL Server on AWS, including EC2, Amazon RDS for SQL Server, and Aurora PostgreSQL.
Administer Windows Server workloads on EC2, manage licensing, and handle Active Directory integration.
Perform Azure-to-AWS migrations, including VM Import/Export from Azure VHDs and handling Azure-specific dependencies.
Configure DMS replication instances, source/target endpoints, and migration tasks.
Utilize AWS SCT for schema analysis and conversion during database refactoring.
Perform post-migration database performance tuning and validation.
Ensure data integrity during and after migration through data validation processes.
Manage large-scale migrations involving 100+ servers.
Plan and execute migration waves for applications based on dependencies, complexity, and business criticality.
Conduct application discovery and dependency mapping using AWS Application Discovery Service or similar tools.
Design and execute cutover plans, including rollback strategies, downtime minimization, and maintenance window coordination.
Define roles and responsibilities using RACI matrices and manage stakeholders across customer, partner, and AWS teams.
Implement cost optimization strategies, including right-sizing EC2 instances and planning Reserved Instances/Savings Plans.
Apply AWS security best practices, including the Well-Architected Framework, IAM, encryption, and compliance.
