About The Position

Farmers Group (Warwick, RI) seeks a Sr. Associate Data Scientist to use working knowledge and experience to apply analytics and modeling techniques to improve business results and perform routine assignments and leverage customer information and behavioral data to influence strategic business decisions while using analytics, multi-variate models, machine learning and data mining technologies. The role involves executing on standard business challenges, scoping projects, defining measures of success, and utilizing a data science vision for project success within prescribed timelines. The position also requires executing routine projects with a sense of urgency, utilizing conceptual knowledge of consumer analytics (retention models, agency economics, lead optimization), and applying basic programming, ETL, and modeling methods. The Sr. Associate Data Scientist will partner closely with IT, business, and data management/engineering teams to understand, utilize, and improve data infrastructure, advise on general matters, serve as an objective partner to drive fact-based decision making, and contribute to presentations for leadership. Communication of complex technical material to non-technical associates is also a key responsibility, along with executing basic to intermediate model deployments via established MLOps techniques and working with analytics and IT teams to deploy models/rules.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, or a closely related field of study, plus 2 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Predictive Analyst, Research Consultant, Business Analyst, or similar position applying analytics and modeling techniques to improve business results.
  • 2 years of experience with performing descriptive data analysis, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data processing.
  • 2 years of experience with performing descriptive, statistical and predictive data analysis to address real business problems.
  • 2 years of experience implementing new programs and initiatives, using SQL, SAS, Python, and R.
  • 2 years of experience processing large datasets from different sources for reporting.
  • 2 years of experience working with the following software: Tower Watson Emblem, ArcGIS, and IBM SPSS Modeler.

Responsibilities

  • Execute on standard business challenges involving data science.
  • Succeed in projects by scoping, defining measures of success, utilizing a data science vision for project success, and accomplishing successfully within prescribed timelines.
  • Execute on routine projects with a sense of urgency.
  • Utilize conceptual knowledge of consumer analytics including retention models, agency economics, and lead optimization in their daily work.
  • Utilize basic knowledge of programming, ETL and modeling methods to execute projects and assist the team through examples of good technical skills.
  • Partner closely with IT, business, and data management/engineering teams to understand, utilize, and improve data infrastructure.
  • Advise on general matters and serve as an objective and transparent partner to drive fact-based decision making and a measures of success culture.
  • Contribute to development of presentations and present to leadership.
  • Communicate complex technical material understandable to non-technical associates.
  • Execute basic to intermediate model deployments via established MLOps techniques.
  • Work with analytics and IT teams to deploy models/rules.
