Sr. Applications Developer (58615)

ApolloMD•Atlanta, GA
•Remote

About The Position

ApolloMD is seeking a senior, hands-on developer to design, build, and support applications that power core healthcare workflows and internal tools. This high-ownership role on a small, fast-moving team works closely with product, clinical, and engineering stakeholders to take ideas from concept to production. The developer is expected to provide pragmatic technical leadership, work comfortably with ambiguity, and independently drive initiatives through production support. The role partners with the Director of Technology Delivery & Innovation, business stakeholders, IT Operations, Data Management, and external vendors to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions. Applications operate in a hybrid on-premises and cloud environment and must integrate with enterprise ELT pipelines and align with established data architecture standards supporting trusted analytics, automation, and AI-enabled decision-making. The work includes developing and maintaining backend and full-stack applications, integrations, APIs, background jobs, and data pipelines; identifying workflow automation opportunities; using AI-assisted development tools; supporting data governance and analytics needs; and contributing to application quality, reliability, testing, documentation, and production support. The team uses a collaborative, PR-based workflow, shared release responsibility, fast iteration, and pragmatic decision-making. The position is primarily remote, with close collaboration across engineering, product, and clinical teams. Eastern Time Zone alignment is preferred; Atlanta-based candidates are a plus. The environment is fast-paced and high-accountability, with significant ownership and impact.

Requirements

  • Typically 5+ years of experience delivering production-grade software in a professional environment.
  • Strong experience building backend or full-stack applications.
  • Comfort working with modern web stacks; TypeScript/Node.js, Postgres, and REST APIs are identified as ideal.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS.
  • Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Tabnine, or Claude Code.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to evolving systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate with partial or ambiguous requirements.
  • Effective communication and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with healthcare systems or integrations, such as HL7, X12, FHIR, or eligibility workflows.
  • Experience building systems that support analytics, automation, or AI-driven features.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines, ELT/ETL concepts, or tools such as Snowflake or dbt.
  • Understanding of Medallion architecture standards (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and data governance practices.
  • Experience in startup or high-growth environments.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment workflows.
  • Eastern Time Zone alignment; Atlanta-based candidates are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend and full-stack applications supporting healthcare and business workflows.
  • Translate loosely defined requirements into technical approaches and shipped features.
  • Contribute across the application lifecycle, from design through production support, in a collaborative, PR-driven environment.
  • Participate in architecture and design discussions, emphasizing simplicity, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Provide technical leadership in cross-functional discussions and architecture decisions.
  • Participate in Agile development, CI/CD pipelines, version control, and change management processes.
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows and reduce operational overhead.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, and iteration, and build systems supporting intelligent workflows, data-driven features, and internal tooling.
  • Design and maintain integrations with third-party vendors and internal systems.
  • Build and support APIs, background jobs, and data pipelines that power core product functionality.
  • Collaborate with data and operations teams to align systems with analytics and reporting needs.
  • Work with healthcare-related integrations where applicable, such as eligibility, messaging, and EHR interfaces.
  • Adhere to and help enforce data governance standards, including data integrity, access controls, and compliance across application and integration touchpoints.
  • Partner with IT Operations and Data Management to align application outputs with ELT pipelines, Medallion architecture standards, and analytics needs.
  • Support data interfaces, including imports, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Write and review code with an emphasis on clarity, correctness, long-term maintainability, and system health.
  • Debug and resolve issues across application, integration, and data layers, and contribute to a stable production environment.
  • Develop, review, and validate test cases to ensure high-quality releases with minimal production disruption.
  • Maintain technical and operational documentation for maintainability, onboarding, and institutional knowledge retention.
