About The Position

The Sr Applications Developer role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting Esri GIS solutions within an enterprise environment. This position involves a blend of hands-on development, system support, data integration, and collaboration with business partners to define and meet software application needs. The role also includes mentoring junior developers, staying current with technological advancements, and ensuring adherence to IT standards and procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
4 years of experience designing, developing, and supporting Esri GIS solutions.
Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online environments.
Strong experience with Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, and GIS application development.
Experience supporting enterprise GIS infrastructure and web services.
Knowledge of spatial databases and SQL development.
Experience diagnosing and resolving complex GIS application and infrastructure issues.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Experience in using Jira and GIT in GIS software development.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, Business or a closely related field and four years of experience in software programming.
Requires the ability to communicate, persuade and/or influence internal and/or external business partners at a high level such as senior management on matters of a technical and/or complex nature.
Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages and simple statistical methods.
Requires a very high level of computer skills in order to use various software packages as well as a familiarity with hardware configuration.
Proficient in MS Office Tools.

Nice To Haves

Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of utility sector GIS implementations.
Experience with mobile GIS technologies, field workforce solutions, and real-time GIS capabilities.

Responsibilities

Assists in the design, development, and testing of software applications.
Resolves day-to-day incidents to assure the integrity of services.
Consumes, transforms, and updates data between systems using integration software.
Consults with business partners to identify and define software application needs.
Analyzes requests for changes, updates, or modifications to software applications and makes recommendations.
Consults with business partners to create documentation relating to program definition, development, and business requirements.
Assists, mentors, and provides technical direction, leadership, guidance, and support for Applications Developers and other IT staff.
Writes, translates, and codes software programs and applications according to specifications.
Prepares system, context, and infrastructure diagrams needed in application development and analysis.
Trains end users to operate new or modified programs, reporting tools, and analytics.
Prepares and writes reports for management on the status of assignments.
Works with end users regarding systems analysis, general systems design, and detail systems design.
Keeps abreast of new and changing technological advances in program languages, utilities, tools, and client/server technology.
Follows IT procedures and naming conventions guidance and provides proper documentation as required by IT standards.
