Sr. Android Engineer
About The Position
We are building the world’s first AI-driven film studio and distribution platform. We have over 350,000 downloads and are backed by $12 million from prominent investors. We are developing Android applications for our existing streaming infrastructure, TrueShort (true crime streaming) and GoodWatch (kids' streaming). This role requires a senior Android engineer to build both apps from scratch, making foundational architectural decisions that will impact millions of users. TrueShort utilizes AI to create cinematic-level streaming content, distributed through mobile and web apps, using proprietary AI video production tools combined with a team of filmmakers and engineers. GoodWatch is a streaming app for children, focusing on high-quality, safe content for parents. This is a greenfield opportunity with no legacy code or tech debt.
Requirements
- Deep experience building production Android apps in Kotlin and/or React Native
- Strong instincts for architecture
- Generalist mindset — comfortable working beyond Android when needed
- Comfort with media playback, streaming protocols, and video-centric UX
- Experience with or enthusiasm for AWS backend services (AppSync, Lambda, DynamoDB)
- Self-directed, fast-moving, and comfortable with ambiguity that comes from working in a startup environment
- Genuinely excited about AI, streaming, and building something people actually use

Responsibilities
- Build two Android apps from zero — architecture, UI, streaming infrastructure, the works
- Own the Android experience end-to-end — from video playback and offline support to auth, subscriptions, and push notifications
- Ship fast and iterate — you'll push code that reaches real users quickly
- Work directly with product and content — you'll have a seat at the table shaping what we build and the content we create
- Leverage AI in your workflow — you'll have full access to every AI tool you need
