About The Position

Regeneron is seeking a Sr. Analytical Scientist to join its Quality Control team in Rensselaer, New York, supporting the IOPS organization. This on-site role focuses on designing, developing, implementing, optimizing, and scaling automated assay workflows across laboratory platforms. The scientist will apply expertise in analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry, chromatography, bioassay, electrophoresis, and ELISA, and will contribute to QC method lifecycle management and continuous improvement. The role involves coordinating analytical and automation initiatives, evaluating emerging technologies, troubleshooting systems, leading complex investigations into automated method performance, and supporting verification activities. The scientist will transfer workflows to QC and partner functions, prepare training materials, transfer plans, acceptance criteria, scientific reports, procedures, and SOPs, and communicate findings and risks to management and cross-functional teams. The position requires hands-on programming and optimization of automated liquid-handling systems and scripting in Python, R, or VBA. Work is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in a GMP analytical laboratory where appropriate gowning and PPE are required in designated areas.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Life Science and 6+ years of industry experience in analytical development, laboratory automation, and QC method lifecycle management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in automated liquid-handling platforms and associated software programming.
  • Experience with Python, R, or VBA for data analysis, workflow automation, or system integration.
  • Knowledge of QC analytical techniques including mass spectrometry, chromatography, electrophoresis, bioassay, or ELISA.
  • Ability to work independently, design scientifically sound studies from broad objectives, and drive projects to completion.
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment, including standing for extended periods and handling laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to wear appropriate gowning and PPE in designated GMP analytical laboratory areas.

  • Higher degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in a cGMP or cGLP regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with Cellario, Venus (Hamilton), or OneLab (Andrew+) automation platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize automated assay workflows across modern laboratory platforms.
  • Set priorities, coordinate work, and track analytical and automation initiatives against key milestones.
  • Design and execute studies evaluating emerging automation technologies and troubleshoot existing systems with some to limited supervision.
  • Lead complex investigations into automated method performance, support verification activities, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Transfer automated workflows to QC and partner functions by developing training materials, transfer plans, and acceptance criteria.
  • Engage cross-functional collaborators and equipment vendors to evaluate new technologies and their suitability for QC applications.
  • Prepare scientific reports, automation procedures, and SOPs, and communicate findings, risks, and mitigation strategies to management and cross-functional teams.
  • Program and optimize automated liquid-handling systems and apply scripting for data analysis, workflow automation, or system integration.
  • Troubleshoot analytical methods and automated instrumentation to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Make independent decisions and proactively recommend experiments or solutions based on analytical science and automation expertise.
