About The Position

RV Tech is seeking a highly strategic, hands-on, and adaptable Sr. Analyst, Prototype Operations & Logistics. This individual will serve as a critical operational pillar, immediately alleviating urgent bottlenecks associated with international prototype and production parts imports, while simultaneously optimizing our logistics and compliance workflows. The ideal candidate is a seasoned logistics professional comfortable operating in an undefined space. This role is hybrid onsite 3 days a week in our Palo Alto, California Office.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, and import/export operations, with a heavy emphasis on time-sensitive or prototype shipments.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working directly alongside trade compliance teams to resolve documentation errors, correct HTS classification issues, and handle PGA requirements.
  • Proven track record of independently troubleshooting complex customs clearance failures and supply chain bottlenecks under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated comfort thriving in a fast-paced, ambiguous, or rapidly scaling environment; a natural inclination to build order out of chaos.
  • Strong working knowledge of international shipping procedures, Incoterms, valuation, and general U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between engineering teams, internal compliance, and external logistics partners.
  • BA/BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct logistics experience within automotive, EV, or high-tech manufacturing industries (handling R&D or test-vehicle components).
  • Familiarity with Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) and handling temporary import bonds (TIB) or carnets.
  • Familiarity with Global Trade Management (GTM) systems, logistics tracking platforms, and ERPs (e.g., SAP, Coupa, Integration Point, Basecamp).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end international transit of critical prototype components, engineering assets, and production parts, ensuring high-priority shipments arrive safely and on schedule.
  • Review incoming shipment data and partner closely with the internal Trade Compliance team to audit, validate, and assist in correcting Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and classification discrepancies before or during customs entry.
  • Proactively manage international logistics pipelines. Drive the resolution of high-stakes customs-related issues, directly interfacing with freight forwarders, carriers, and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) such as NHTSA, EPA-VNE, and FDA.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for global suppliers and customs brokers. Overhaul documentation collection processes (HAWB, Commercial Invoices, Arrival Notices) to minimize port-of-entry delays and demurrage fees.
  • Maintain ironclad records and supporting documentation for all import activities to ensure audit readiness. Identify systemic gaps in the current logistics workflow and implement immediate, scalable fixes.
  • Provide expert logistics guidance to internal stakeholders (Engineering, R&D, Procurement). Translate complex trade timelines and operational requirements into actionable workflows for the broader team.
  • Thoroughly document all newly established prototype logistics processes, open issues, and vendor contacts to provide a comprehensive, seamless transition for the incoming full-time manager.
