About The Position

A subsidiary of UGI Corporation, UGI Energy Services supplies and markets natural gas, liquid fuels, renewable natural gas, and electricity to 42,000 customer locations across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern US. We are a supplier, marketer, and midstream services provider - one backed by 135 years of natural gas experience, plus our own expanding energy infrastructure. Along with buying and selling energy commodities at the wholesale level, UGIES owns and operates key midstream natural gas assets. The Senior Analyst - Business Development – will support and drive growth of UGI Energy Services' offerings, with an initial focus on, but not limited to, the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) business. This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing new market opportunities, customers, and commercial strategies for UGIES' service offerings, including peaking supply, emergency mobile services, and solutions for RNG transport and customer fuel supply. The position works closely with Operations, Sales, Logistics, and external partners (utilities, etc.) to expand UGIES’ customer base and position UGIES as a preferred, full-service natural gas solutions provider.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the U.S. natural gas industry, including supply chains, logistics, peaking services, and distribution—including familiarity with LNG trucking, trailer operations, and transport contracting arrangements.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with ability to evaluate commercial opportunities, build business cases, and perform market, technical, and financial analysis to support BD decision-making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to prepare clear opportunity summaries, presentations, and commercial proposals for internal and external audiences.
  • Self-directed, forward-thinking work style with ability to proactively identify and pursue opportunities, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in an environment without rigid direction.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with external customers, landowners, developers, utilities, and logistics providers, and to work collaboratively with internal operations, legal, engineering, and sales teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in business development, commercial analysis, or energy industry roles
  • Willingness to travel for customer-facing meetings and industry events; some travel to UGI facilities and customer sites expected

Nice To Haves

  • experience with CRM tools, GIS platforms, or energy industry data systems a plus.
  • LNG/CNG or midstream experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to identify new customer segments, market trends, and competitive dynamics; assess and prioritize growth opportunities across utility peaking, industrial, transportation fuel, and emergency services markets.
  • Evaluate the viability of new service lines and revenue sources for UGIES.
  • Proactively identify, target, and develop relationships with prospective customers including utilities, industrial end-users, municipalities, and fleet operators.
  • Support customer-facing trips and commercial negotiations alongside senior BD team members and operations colleagues.
  • Develop and articulate value propositions for UGIES' service offerings, including complementary add-on services such as AMA, balancing, and scheduling.
  • Support and expand the development of emergency or maintenance-driven mobile proposals for LDCs in the Northeast to address pipe-out-of-service and pressure support scenarios.
  • Build financial models and perform deal economics analyses to evaluate LNG/CNG commercial opportunities, customer contracts, and capital project proposals.
  • Prepare and present opportunity summaries to management for review and approval.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Legal, Engineering, Logistics, and Sales colleagues—including trucking/transport partners—to advance proposals and commercial arrangements.
  • Support contract management, logistics planning, and related back-office activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, in support of the overall BD team’s goals and initiatives.
