About The Position
Schwab’s AI.x team is its central hub for artificial intelligence, bringing together product, engineering, research, and risk teams in San Francisco. The team sets the enterprise AI vision, invests in promising opportunities, accelerates AI delivery across the company, builds the core platform for AI at scale, and explores next-generation generative AI initiatives. The Senior AI Product Manager will lead the development and enhancement of client-facing artificial intelligence experiences and help expand Schwab’s generative AI foundation so teams across the company can test, build, and deploy GenAI solutions. The role works closely with engineering, research, business enablement, compliance, and cross-functional product teams. It calls for deep experience building AI-enabled products, current knowledge of GenAI capabilities, and a user-centered approach. The position drives product strategy, planning, prioritization, and trade-off decisions across competing enterprise demands. The product manager determines how to move forward with a bias toward action, advancing Schwab’s goals while ensuring compliance in the financial services industry. The role is based on-site in Schwab’s San Francisco office.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree.
- 7–10+ years of professional IT or product development experience.
- 5+ years of direct product experience.
- 3+ years of experience working closely with software engineers.
- Strong understanding of modern GenAI systems, including large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, system prompts, and multi-step AI workflows.
- Strong understanding of basic statistics, probability distributions, and measurement fundamentals.
- Demonstrable experience using or building generative AI solutions.
Nice To Haves
- MBA or graduate degree in computer science or another field related to AI.
- Professional experience in product management, engineering, or data science.
- Experience building multi-step GenAI workflows that follow a process while maintaining strong controls and auditability.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across organizational levels and influence business stakeholders.
- Ability to distill strategy, analytics, and varied input to drive decisions across stakeholder communities and build credibility with peers and key stakeholders.
- Passion for identifying user pain points, generating ideas to address them, and swiftly testing potential solutions.
- Self-starter with outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and a desire to continually reevaluate products and processes.
- Comfort in a dynamic, fast-moving environment, with a positive attitude and solid work ethic.

Responsibilities
- Collaboratively define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Schwab’s client-facing AI experiences in alignment with business and technology goals.
- Partner with R&D to define strategies for evaluating and monitoring the quality of generative AI output.
- Define metrics to estimate hallucination impact, output acceptance, and safety concerns.
- Communicate key metrics to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including trends over time, variance, and business impact.
- Distill long-term product visions and goals into MVPs and iterative deliverables.
- Define and champion the near-term product vision in alignment with Schwab’s strategic goals.
- Oversee the product lifecycle from concept to launch, including user research, requirements gathering, and go-to-market strategy.
- Advocate for a strong user experience and incorporate user feedback and analytics into product development.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks throughout product development.
- Build enablement and onboarding plans to help internal teams use platform tools.
- Dynamically prioritize the product roadmap so each iterative delivery creates value.
