At the WCIRB, the Sr. Actuarial Research Analyst is part of an innovative team that applies new methodologies and data to answer traditional actuarial questions. The Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California (WCIRB) is California's trusted, objective provider of actuarially-based information and research, advisory pure premium rates, and educational services integral to a healthy workers' compensation system. The WCIRB is a California unincorporated, private, nonprofit association comprised of all companies licensed to transact workers' compensation insurance in California, and has over 400 member companies. Its operations are funded primarily by membership fees and assessments, with no state money used. To accurately measure the cost of providing workers' compensation benefits, the WCIRB performs functions such as collecting premium and loss data, examining policy documents, inspecting insured businesses, and conducting test audits of insurer payroll audits and claims classification. The team works on various workers’ compensation topics, including research into the optimal form of their innovative experience rating plan and deeper dives into drivers of workers’ compensation costs as in their annual Geo Study. The WCIRB employs approximately 175 people, with its home office located in San Francisco, California.
