Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience with month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and standard business practices.
  • Proficiency with Deltek or similar accounting software.
  • Intermediate Excel skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, meet deadlines, and identify when issues require research, escalation, or follow-up.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, including the ability to clearly document accounting processes and support conclusions.
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behavior and works effectively within a team environment, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and commitment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ADP or similar payroll software.
  • Experience with accounts payable preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and support monthly journal entries including accruals, prepaid assets and amortization, fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, reclassifications, and other month-end close entries, ensuring accuracy, proper support, and timely recording.
  • Analyze general ledger accounts and perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and documenting reconciling items, researching variances, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accuracy and support.
  • Support the monthly close process by preparing assigned schedules.
  • Maintain organized and audit-ready documentation for journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit requests.
  • Follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, including maintaining documentation, obtaining approvals, and ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist the Controller with the annual financial audit by compiling supporting documentation and preparing assigned audit schedules.
  • Perform ad-hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Manage employee expense reports and AMEX employee card transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to processes, controls, and system use.
  • Provide back-up coverage for payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Provide accounts payable back-up coverage, including entering vendor transactions into Deltek Vantagepoint.
