About The Position

The Sr. Accountant is part of the Accounting and Reporting Operations department at Ascension. This hybrid role is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, and works a day shift. The position supports financial record accuracy and monthly close through general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany settlements, in-house bank reconciliation, financial analysis, and reporting.

Requirements

• High school diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, or an associate's or bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience, or 5 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• Apply healthcare accounting knowledge to execute month-end close processes, complete complex ledger reconciliations, and manage monthly journal entries using Oracle and Oracle ARCS.
• Use analytical skills to manipulate complex healthcare data sets, manage intercompany reconciliations and revaluations, and communicate insights to cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and enter monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records.
• Review intercompany transactions and balances, investigate and resolve discrepancies, and support monthly intercompany settlements to ensure accurate and timely recording across entities.
• Review in-house bank transactions and verify activity is accurately posted and reconciled to the general ledger; research and resolve variances as needed.
• Perform monthly account analyses and reconciliations, investigate unusual fluctuations or discrepancies, and maintain documentation supporting the monthly close process and financial reporting.
