About The Position

Droplet is a growing SaaS company that needs an accountant to own the accounting function. This includes managing the monthly close, revenue recognition, financial statement production, internal controls, AP/AR, payroll accounting, sales tax compliance, cash flow forecasting, and budget-to-actual analysis. The role involves working directly with finance, sales, and leadership, and potentially training new team members as the company grows. The company emphasizes a clean close and a tidy balance sheet, offering autonomy and the opportunity to improve processes.

Requirements

2+ years of accounting experience, with real ownership of a full month-end close
SaaS or subscription-business experience
Solid GAAP knowledge, especially ASC 606
Comfort with modern tools (QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, or similar)
Genuinely good Excel skills
Ability to work independently with real autonomy
Ability to explain a variance to someone who doesn't know what a variance is, without making them feel dumb

Nice To Haves

CPA (active or in progress)
Startup or small-company experience
Multi-state payroll or tax exposure
Equity or cap table accounting experience

Responsibilities

Running the monthly and quarterly close and making it faster and cleaner every quarter
Owning revenue recognition for our subscription revenue (ASC 606)
Producing financial statements
Building and tightening internal controls as we scale
Keeping AP, AR, and payroll accounting in good shape
Being the point person for our external auditors and tax preparers
Handling multi-state sales tax compliance
Helping with cash flow forecasting and budget-to-actual analysis
Spotting and fixing manual or clunky processes
Working directly with Finance, Sales, and leadership
Showing someone newer how to do this well, if the team grows
