About The Position

The Senior Accountant & Financial Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of accounting records through regular maintenance of the general ledger and reconciliation of subsidiary accounts for the assigned business accounts. In addition to day-to-day accounting tasks such as reviewing and recording revenues, expenses, and margins in the proper accounting periods, the individual will prepare comprehensive financial statements and reports, with responsibilities such as analyzing financial performance, identifying and researching variances against budgets, prior periods, and previous years and offering detailed insights into financial trends all of which are essential to understanding key drivers of business performance. The role also involves working closely with cross-functional teams, requiring strong communication skills to ensure a clear understanding of business segments, needs, goals, and financial objectives. The Senior Accountant & Financial Analyst will actively support financial forecasting, assist in preparing annual budgets, and contribute to strategic financial planning initiatives, making recommendations that enhance overall financial performance.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, with practical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their application in real-world scenarios.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial statement components, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, and their interrelationships.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify variances, research underlying causes, and formulate actionable recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Ability to convey financial information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, contributing to collaborative, high-performance workgroups.

  • Proficiency in Accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in accounting and financial analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification is preferred and advantageous.
  • Accounting or Finance experience in automotive, logistics or retail industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements, income statements, cash flow statements, balance sheets, and budgets.
  • Maintain general ledger, prepare, enter, and post journal entries to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Compile and analyze bank account reconciliations, ensure all transactions are accounted for and discrepancies are resolved.
  • Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations, support the accuracy of financial statements by validating and reconciling account balances.
  • Maintain specific audit worksheets and prepare documentation required for various types of audits.
  • Adhere to the monthly close calendar and ensure timely completion of accounting tasks and reporting deadlines.
  • Implement, maintain internal controls and establish procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Conduct financial and operational analysis to help analyze revenues and margins, providing commentary and value-added recommendations for improving financial performance.
  • Create standardization and efficiencies within financial reporting and analysis.
  • Support the Corporate Controller and CFO with additional financial insights and analyses as needed.
  • Conduct variance analysis by comparing actual financial performance to budgeted figures, identifying trends and anomalies for management review.
  • Create forecasting and budgeting models to support business decision-making.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management meetings, summarizing financial data and performance metrics.
  • Track and analyze KPIs relevant to the business segments to assess operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Work closely with various departments to provide financial insights and recommendations that align with operational goals.
  • Engage in cross-functional projects that require financial expertise to ensure financial considerations are integrated into strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Corporate Controller and CFO.
