About The Position

Greenbacker Renewables is seeking a temporary Sr. Accountant for a 6-month hybrid schedule in their Portland, Maine office. This role is crucial for accounting new debt financing and interest rate swap arrangements, ensuring their recognition in financial statements according to US GAAP. The position involves assisting with month, quarter, and year-end close procedures, reviewing financing agreements, and collaborating with colleagues to maintain accounting compliance and internal controls. The role also supports cross-departmental projects and focuses on improving efficiency in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in accounting is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Oracle ERP or similar accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) is preferred.
  • Exposure to financial institutions (i.e., commercial lending) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data processing tools such as SQL, Power BI, or Python, and treasury software such as G-Treasury is a plus.
  • Participation in the buildout of scalable processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Account for new debt financing and interest rate swap arrangements, including their recognition in the Company’s financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Assist with month, quarter, and year-end close procedures related to the Company’s financing arrangements and interest rate swaps, including preparing and maintaining work papers and documents supporting the trial balance.
  • Review and understand various financing agreements related to the Company’s financing activities.
  • Assist with the satisfaction of requests from external auditors in fulfillment of the year-end financial statement audit process.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure accounting procedures comply with US GAAP and internal controls are followed.
  • Assist with cross-department projects and other ad hoc initiatives.
  • Maintain organization and seize opportunities to improve efficiency and work quality in a constantly growing and changing landscape.
