About The Position

The Sr. Account Consultant – Commercial Surety will manage a portfolio of commercial surety accounts, focusing on new business development and renewal activities. This role involves building and maintaining strong client relationships, understanding their unique surety bond needs, and providing tailored solutions. The consultant will collaborate with underwriters to assess risk, determine bond eligibility, and negotiate terms. A key responsibility is conducting thorough financial analysis of clients for accurate underwriting and pricing, and preparing detailed bond proposals. The role also includes managing the renewal process, staying updated on industry trends, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure comprehensive client service. Maintaining accurate client records and acting as a trusted advisor are also crucial aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the surety industry, with a focus on commercial surety bonds.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial surety underwriting guidelines, risk assessment, and bond pricing.
  • Proven track record in managing and growing a portfolio of commercial surety accounts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of commercial surety accounts, including new business development and renewal activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique surety bond needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Collaborate with underwriters to assess risk, determine bond eligibility, and negotiate terms and conditions.
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of client financials and to ensure accurate underwriting and pricing.
  • Prepare and present surety bond proposals to clients, addressing their specific requirements and provide clear explanations of terms and conditions.
  • Monitor and manage the surety bond renewal process, ensuring timely and accurate renewals.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and market conditions related to commercial surety bonds.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as Insurance Account Executives, to provide comprehensive service to clients.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including bond information, financials, and communication history.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing guidance and support throughout the bond process and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
