The primary function of this position is to troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, re-build, repair, & test parts/equipment on construction equipment at an expert as well as lead and coach other technicians. This role involves checking equipment and supplies, complying with PPE requirements, and preparing for duties. The technician will use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, and parts diagrams for independent troubleshooting and repair. They will utilize lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids for moving parts, and hand and power tools for repairs. Proficiency in using resources and computers for parts information and data entry is essential. The role includes disassembling/re-assembling parts, cleaning parts, using test equipment for diagnostics, and controlling powered equipment. Climbing onto, under, and into vehicles is required for access. The technician will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and advanced-level repairs on engine, power train, hydraulic, and electrical components across numerous model lines. Reprogramming equipment controllers using instruments and computers is also part of the duties. Leadership duties include assisting supervisors with performance appraisals, coaching and developing technicians, and directing daily job assignments for up to five or more technicians. The Squad Leader will work with team members to ensure proper troubleshooting techniques and meet customer and GPEC expectations.
