About The Position

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Mid-Level SQL Server Database Administrator to support the organization’s SQL Server platforms. This position will be located in Washington, D.C. and will be a fully remote within the United States position. This role is suited for DBAs with solid operational experience who are looking to expand their technical depth.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years SQL Server administration experience.
• Solid experience with SQL Server instances, T‑SQL scripting, SQL Clustering, and HA/DR environments.
• Foundational experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle, and MS Access.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

• Microsoft Certified Database Administrator Associate
• CompTIA Data+ or equivalent credential

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and support SQL Server instances across dev, test, and production environments.
• Develop T‑SQL scripts, stored procedures, and functions.
• Perform routine database maintenance, backups, patching, and updates.
• Assist with SQL Server Clustering and Availability Groups.
• Monitor performance, identify issues, and execute tuning operations.
• Troubleshoot database connectivity, performance degradation, and service outages.
• Support data migration and integration projects involving PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and MariaDB.
• Execute DR drills and maintain runbooks documenting recovery processes.
• Work collaboratively with development, QA, and operations teams.
