About The Position

This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. HII works within our nation’s intelligence and cyber operations communities to defend our interests in cyberspace and anticipate emerging threats. Our capabilities in cybersecurity, network architecture, reverse engineering, software and hardware development uniquely enable us to support sensitive missions for the U.S. military and federal agency partners. HII’s Mission Technologies division is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge solutions that advance national security and defense objectives. We are actively looking for a SQL Database Administrator. This position is part of our Cyber and Intelligence division, which plays a critical role in supporting Enterprise-Level Security and Modernization efforts across IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, physical facilities, and personnel operations. The selected candidate will contribute to a high-impact government program focused on enhancing and securing mission-critical systems and environments. The program is scheduled to launch in early 2026 and due to the classified nature of the mission and the sensitivity of the operational environment, an active TS/SCI security clearance will be required. Candidate must be willing to obtain and maintain a CI poly while on the contract. This is a part-time position.

Requirements

10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
5+ years of hands-on systems administration of Microsoft SQL Server (2016 - 2022) and enterprise server applications, specializing in Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC), Always On Availability Groups, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
3+ years of experience managing SQL Server integrated within a Microsoft AD domain and forest, including service account security (gMSAs), Kerberos constrained delegation (SPNs), and DNS/DHCP configurations for multi-subnet clusters.
Experience applying and maintaining a standard security configuration based on SRGs and STIGs.
Minimum active TS/SCI required to start, candidate must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a CI Poly once selected.
Must have current Sec+ (or applicable) certification or be willing to complete certification within 90 days of starting employment.

Nice To Haves

SQL Server formal training or vendor certifications from Microsoft (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate).
Formal training or vendor certifications for applications and technologies such as Citrix, Splunk, SolarWinds, ServiceNow.
Experience with other database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MariaDB.
Previous experience with automated deployment tools and approaches (e.g., Ansible)
Current CI Poly

Responsibilities

Implements and maintains smooth operation and physical design of databases.
Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general.
Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
Maintains security and integrity controls.
Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization.
May develop stored procedures and/or triggers.
