About The Position

Aero Mechanical, Inc., one of the leading contractors in the area, has an exciting opportunity for a commercial Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice working from our Johnston, RI office. We are seeking a motivated and dependable apprentice to join our team and learn the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire sprinkler systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing a skilled trade career while gaining hands-on experience working alongside experienced sprinkler fitters. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and comfortable working in construction environments. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must have other than dishonorable discharge from military (if applicable).
  • Must be physically fit to do the work of the trade.
  • Must be able and willing to join the local #669.
  • Strong interest in learning the sprinkler/fire protection trade.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new tools and techniques.
  • Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to pass appropriate drug test and medical exam.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous construction, mechanical, plumbing, or trade experience is helpful but not required.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced sprinkler fitters with the installation of fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
  • Learn to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and sprinkler system plans.
  • Assist with measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, assembling, and installing pipe and related components.
  • Help install sprinkler heads, valves, hangers, fittings, and other fire protection equipment.
  • Assist with system testing, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and other job-site equipment as trained.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and applicable fire protection codes.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Work effectively with journeymen, foremen, project managers, and other construction trades.
  • Attend required apprenticeship classes, safety training, and technical instruction.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested and maintain a teamwork attitude.
