Requirements

  • Participate in our employer-sponsored DOL Pipefitter Apprenticeship program
  • Mechanical ability - able to use hand tools (tape measure, drill, hammer, etc.)
  • Fire Suppression experience in a commercial setting is a plus, not necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively with individuals of all personality types.
  • Understand and execute both verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Work safely and independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong self-direction.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading.
  • Installation of hanger assemblies for pipe securing.
  • Work from ladders and scaffolds to install pipe, fittings, devices, and maintain equipment and fixtures.
  • Lockout tagout.
  • Aerial -lift Operation – Boom & Scissor Lift
  • Forklift Operation - Material Handling up to 5000#
  • Telehandler
  • Chauffeur LIC/Med DOT Physical
  • Trailer Loading and Securing of Material
  • Threader & Groover
  • Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials.
  • Utilize and understand the constraints of chains, synthetic, metal mesh, and wire rope slings.
  • Use & recognize rigging hardware including hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, softeners and tag lines
  • Identifies common load configurations & positioning
  • Rigger 1 training – trains on above

Responsibilities

  • Learn to use common hand tools and apply basic math and geometry to fire protection system installation and services.
  • Support other apprentices, journeyman, and foremen on various projects.
  • Follow instructions from foremen and/or supervisors to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Keep the job site clean, safe and well-organized.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure attention to detail and follow safety standards.
  • Fuel and wash department vehicles.
  • Gain essential skills to progress within the department by applying knowledge of pipe installation and service.
