About The Position

The Golf Course Spray Technician is a key member of the golf course maintenance team responsible for maintaining the health and aesthetics of the course by applying pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers. This role requires a strong understanding of turfgrass management, chemical application techniques, and safety regulations, ensuring effective treatments while prioritizing environmental protection and golfer safety.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge in the safe mechanical operation calibration of the following types of equipment; mechanically pressurized spray equipment, hand-operated spray equipment, hand-operated rotary and drop spreaders and utility tractors.
  • General knowledge of golf course maintenance operations, including operation of golf course equipment and cultural practices.
  • 1-2 years of experience in turf management or a related field.
  • Ability to obtain a state pesticide license within 3-6 months.
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management, diseases, pests, and nutrient requirements.
  • Ability to understand chemical labels and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and best practices for pesticide application.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • The job requires the ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat stoop, reach, twist, climb and lift 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to extreme noise, outdoors, confining work space, electrical hazards, vibration, dust, and mechanical hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides exceptional guest service to both external and internal guests by maintaining and exhibiting the We-Ko-Pa Way Service Standards: Smile and Greet, name and Meet, Thank You and Goodbye.
  • Apply turf care products to greens, tees, fairways, and other areas according to label instructions and safety regulations.
  • Monitor turf health, identify issues, and implement treatments in consultation with the Superintendent.
  • Operate and maintain spray equipment.
  • Inspect and calibrate equipment to ensure proper working order.
  • Maintain records of all chemical applications.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of chemicals safely and appropriately.
  • Communicate with the Superintendent and team members regarding course conditions and treatment plans.
  • Assist with general golf course maintenance tasks.
