About The Position

Responsible for the operation of production equipment to produce quality product meeting WM welding and customer specifications. The Spot Welder must be trained to run all equipment and jobs within the department and be capable of performing all setups. They must consistently meet or exceed production standards and expectations. Under the direction of the area manager or instruction of a Team Leader, the production welder will be assigned to run production and/or set up equipment upon which they have been trained. The welder must have the ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic. The operator is responsible for accurate production counts being reported. The welder should acquire personal hand tools related to the various machines they will be required to operate or assist in operating. Must maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and hazard-free work area, promote safety at all times, and have knowledge of all safety rules, ensuring all work is done safely. They will report any unsafe conditions to their immediate supervisor. Must comply with all Wayne Metals, LLC quality system requirements, defect/error prevention, waste reduction, and WM standards. Will be trained and use SPC systems in place for production operations. Is responsible to know and understand efficiency performance and how they are performing per the specified rates, understanding that if the rate is too tight or too loose, they need to advise their Team Leader and/or Area Manager. The employee shall be aware of the Manufacturing Goals for the Company. Labor reporting through our Visual Manufacturing System is critically important to our process, inventory control, cost accounting, capacity planning, and staffing. The production operator must follow the procedure for labor entry closely and advise their superior when there is a problem. The welder is responsible for removing all old tags, move tickets, and part identification of any kind from the container before starting to use it. Additionally, the employee must conform to all Wayne Metals, LLC environmental policies, programs, and procedures, as well as all State of Indiana laws and regulations, and report any environmental concerns to their Supervisor, Environmental Management Representative, or the Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic.
  • High school graduate or equivalent training or work experience.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of welding defects.
