About The Position

Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) is seeking a Sports Resident for its Human Performance Center (HPC). This full-time, benefits-eligible position offers a two-year residency program designed to advance the resident's expertise through sports event and sideline experience, clinical practice, professional development, supervision of clinical interns, lectures on sports care topics, research, and collaboration with faculty and other clinicians. The ideal candidate will act as an expert on campus in sports and performance while fostering a student-oriented learning environment through supervision and instruction. The initial position is for one year, with renewal contingent upon adequate performance. Some late afternoons, early evenings, and occasional Saturdays are expected due to the nature of covering athletic games and supervision.

Requirements

  • Doctorate of Chiropractic degree, required.
  • Active Minnesota DC license in good standing or qualified to obtain a Minnesota chiropractic license.
  • 0-2 years of experience in sports care.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in a related health care field.
  • Experience in teaching, student supervision, and research.
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), International Certificate Sports Chiropractic (ICSC), Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Athletic Trainer Certification (ATC), and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of clinical interns and clerks while providing clinical services to Human Performance constituents.
  • Sports care and performance assessments in the HPC, multidisciplinary Team Clinic, and in the field to HPC constituents.
  • Design and delivery of lectures in the field of sports and human performance.
  • Supervision and participation in sports and human performance related research.
  • Participate in professional development.
  • Attend university events such as white coat ceremony, Discovery Day, new student orientation, etc.
  • Follow and adhere to Residency Program Standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
