About The Position

The Sports Reporter is responsible for assisting the Sports Editor in providing sports stories for the publication of The Xavierite. The Sports Reporter is responsible for producing one to two sports stories for every issue of The Xavierite. This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies. Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies: Professionalism: Students build professionalism by practicing dependability, accountability, confidentiality when applicable, workplace etiquette, and respectful service in a workplace setting. Requirements

• MUST BE A STUDENT AT SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY
• Must be Federal Work Study Eligible
• Must Include a Resume and Cover Letter

• Preference in journalism, communication, or English.

Responsibilities

• Produces one-two articles per week
• Attends general staff meeting
• Meets weekly with Section Editor
• Maintain weekly-posted office hours in The Xavierite office (4 hours per week).
• Assists with the layout of the section
• Ensures that The Xavierite website has up to date material to be posted
• Member of the Student Media Sports Committee
