The Sports Performance Specialist supports Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance’s strategy to expand its sports medicine impact. The role contributes to a multifaceted sports performance service line, both as a standalone offering and as a pathway to other TOA services. It coordinates with community resources for services and referrals in areas such as nutrition, sports science, sports psychology, massage and recovery, and group fitness, while helping evaluate these areas as potential TOA service lines. The specialist builds community relationships with sports leagues, coaches, and schools; helps organize outreach, education, camps, and clinics; and provides presentations and electronic media on sports training, fitness, wellness, and health. The role also assists with sports performance social media and marketing and coordinates TOA return-to-play programs for functional rehabilitation. The specialist provides individual and group sports performance and wellness training to clients ranging from high-performing athletes to recreational athletes and others. They supervise and educate clients in sports performance and return-to-play activities; provide expertise on injury prevention, nutrition, and sport-specific performance; and teach and demonstrate safe strength, speed, conditioning, and flexibility techniques. The role works with group exercise and personal training and initiates internal education for TOA providers and colleagues. Other duties may be assigned.
