About The Position

Sporting KC is seeking to hire a Strength & Conditioning Coach for a paid fellowship position for the 2027 MLS season. This position is intended for professional development and is focused on furthering knowledge and skills in the field of athletic performance. The individual will primarily take an active role assisting with our MLS Next Developmental Academy as well as MLS Next Pro team, Sporting Kansas City II. The individual selected for the fellowship will gain hands-on experience within an overarching High-Performance structure through performing a variety of roles within a fast-paced, behind-the-scenes environment, with the chance to have a direct impact on professional soccer in Kansas City. Sporting KC’s collaborative environment is full of learning opportunities and is designed to help all fellows evolve as professionals, challenge their strengths, and reach their fullest potential. This position is available after December 1st, 2026. The position is intended to last through the 2027 Calendar year. This role is a stipend position designed to provide professional development and hands-on experience. Compensation will be provided through a fixed stipend.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
• First Aid and CPR certifications are required.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in Spanish as well as both experience in and a passion for soccer is a plus.
• Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs as a developing strength and conditioning coach & sport scientist in the team environment.
• Will assist in SKC II and Academy teams warm-ups, conditioning sessions, cool downs, and weight room sessions with the opportunity to lead if they demonstrate the aptitude to do so.
• Works under the direction and supervision of the Sporting KC Performance Staff; this person will report directly to the Director of Sports Performance.
• Help to maintain complete up to date player data (player health and participation records, session RPE, weight room loads, etc.).
• Assists in the implementation of StatSports GPS for SKC Development Academy.
• Assist in maintaining professional facilities (keep the weight room clean, organized, etc.).
• Assists in coverage of Sporting KC, Sporting KC II, and Sporting KC Academy games as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
• Some travel may be required.
• Always represents Sporting KC in a professional manner.
