About The Position

The Sports Instructor ensures an organized, safe, and impactful sports program for participants. The role assists with planning, leading, and supervising youth and adult sports, including practices, clinics, and games. This position coaches PeeWee Sports, including parent/child and preschool-aged t-ball and soccer classes. The schedule is part-time, with mornings and afternoons.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
At least 6 months of experience in organized youth and adult sports.
Physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform job-related tasks.
Visual, physical, and auditory ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
Must be fingerprinted before reporting to work and comply with subsequent arrest notification requirements.
Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification covering adults and children/infants within 30 days of hire. Certification must be from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety & Health Institute, or YMCA.

Responsibilities

Plan, lead, and supervise assigned youth and adult sports practices, clinics, and games.
Prepare sports fields and courts for use, including setting up and breaking down equipment.
Maintain sports department equipment.
Maintain a safe environment and ensure playing areas are suitable for gameplay.
Ensure safe program operations for all participants.
Provide ongoing instruction and supervision to groups and serve as a leader.
Keep score for assigned games.
Attend and actively participate in assigned staff meetings.
Maintain positive relationships with staff, participants, volunteer coaches, and parents.
Track participant attendance at games, clinics, and practices and maintain records.
Follow YMCA standards, procedures, guidelines, objectives, and goals.
Demonstrate enthusiasm in all phases of work with participants.
Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, volunteers, and participants.
Instill, teach, and model YMCA values.
Perform other duties as assigned.
