About The Position

The Sports Information Intern will assist the Sports Information Specialist in promoting and publicizing the college's athletic programs. This internship provides hands-on experience in sports media relations, content creation and event management.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a college or university, preferably with a major in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and content management systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Photography and videography skills or interest a plus.
• Familiarity with live-streaming or willingness to learn preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in writing and distributing press releases, game previews and recaps to local media outlets.
• Develop content for the athletic department's website and social media platforms, including photos and videos.
• Help maintain accurate statistics for all sports teams and update historical records.
• Attend home games and select away games to provide live updates, take photographs, and gather post-game quotes. Familiarity with live-streaming or willingness to learn preferred.
• Assist in the production of media guides, game programs and other promotional materials.
• Support the planning and execution of special events such as banquets, award ceremonies and press conferences.
• Perform various administrative duties as needed, including data entry, filing, and answering inquiries.
