About The Position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking a Sports Information Professional to join its Intercollegiate Athletics team. This role is responsible for all media and sports information aspects for UCCS athletics. The position involves managing communications and media relations for assigned athletic programs, including writing press releases, producing publications, maintaining the athletics website and social media, and preserving historical records. Additionally, the Sports Information Professional will coordinate game day operations, live-stream programming, and act as the primary liaison with the NCAA and RMAC for statistics, awards, compliance, and other sports information duties, while also completing assigned departmental tasks.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in communications, sport management, athletic administration, business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Must have prior experience in a role that included organizing, planning, and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of communication, accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Successful candidates must have experience working independently and collaboratively while effectively prioritizing and delegating daily responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • A master's degree is preferred
  • Previous experience in an athletic department or higher education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Primary communications contact for athletic teams as assigned
  • Production of media guides, game programs, press releases and supporting materials
  • Perform required game day duties
  • Maintain and update the UCCS athletics website
  • Administrative tasks, including: Work directly with the NCAA and RMAC for all sports information related matters including but not limited to statistics, awards, department acknowledgements, legislation, etc. Social media; Maintain permanent and complete records for Mountain Lion athletic programs; and Coordinate athletic live-stream programming
