About The Position

The position is responsible for assisting in communication efforts of selected athletic contests for designated sports. Works a maximum of 29 hours a week, in designated weeks, during Fall and Spring Term. This role supports Ottawa University's mission to integrate faith, learning, and life in the academic experiences of students.

Requirements

  • Working toward a degree/collegiate coursework related to the requirements of this position.
  • Prior working experience (or coursework) which are related to the requirements of this position.
  • Knowledge in the use of Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with PrestoWeb, and SIDEARM website Content Management Systems.
  • Experience with photography and videography.
  • Ability to effectively accept and apply the instruction and critique of others and continue to show job improvement with increased experience.
  • Effective writing/communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with students/employees/guests of the University community.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting.
  • Frequent prolonged and irregular hours, and exposure to varying temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in communication efforts of selected athletic contests for men's and women's soccer, cross country, track and field, bowling, lacrosse and tennis.
  • Comprehensive website management, including event previews, game stories, scores, statistics, rosters and schedules updates, and archival program information.
  • Working with photography and videography related to athletic communications.
  • Working cooperatively with others within and outside of the department to provide an effective product.
  • Maintaining positive work attendance.
  • Working in a variety of environments and climatic conditions.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekend hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
