About The Position

The Sports Coach will instruct and coach participants in youth sports programs, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship within a supportive and engaging setting.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with youth and adults.
• Knowledge and experience in appropriate sports skills, with a focus on youth development.
• Proven ability to lead and supervise youth groups, fostering teamwork and inclusivity.
• Dependable, responsive, and adaptable to dynamic program needs.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate sports program activities according to the plan and schedule, ensuring engaging and skill-focused sessions.
• Provide effective communication with participants, parents, and staff to foster a collaborative program atmosphere.
• Set up and break down program areas, maintaining and controlling supplies and equipment to ensure readiness and organization.
• Follow department protocol to maintain cleanliness and organization in program areas.
• Ensure a safe environment for participants by enforcing safety rules, responding to accidents, and following protocols to address injuries.
• Respond professionally to problems and complaints, identifying solutions to resolve issues promptly.
• Actively ensure the safety and well-being of all children by adhering to YMCA Buffalo Niagara’s Youth Protection Policies. Recognize, respond to, and immediately report any suspected abuse, policy violations, or safety concerns.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
