About The Position

Play It Again Sports is a locally owned franchise with a retail environment where it buys, sells, and trades new and used sporting goods equipment. The store provides value in new and used sports and fitness equipment and emphasizes exceptional customer service in a clean and fun environment. The Sporting Goods Sales Associate serves customers, recommends products, supports sales, buys and prices used sporting goods, restocks merchandise, maintains displays and store standards, and uses computerized point-of-sale and sales-tracking systems. Prior sporting goods retail experience is preferred, but the right candidate may be trained.

Requirements

Ability to work well as a team member, accept constructive feedback, and follow directions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours a day.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
Ability to bend, rotate, and reach as customary in a sporting goods retail environment.

Nice To Haves

Prior sporting goods retail experience is preferred; the employer is willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Greet customers promptly, determine their needs, and handle transactions professionally and enthusiastically.
Become familiar with sporting goods products, brands, and prices, and recommend products and explain their features and benefits to meet customer needs.
Increase sales and customer satisfaction by adding items to purchases at the close of the sale.
Buy used sporting goods and reinforce customers’ purchases and sales to the store.
Price and ticket sporting goods according to pricing and buying guidelines.
Restock the store according to the merchandising plan.
Maintain store displays and follow housekeeping and maintenance standards and procedures.
Develop proficiency with the computerized point-of-sale and sales-tracking system.
