About The Position

The Sporting Goods Associate is responsible for conducting firearm transactions in compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and company policies. The role also supports customer service, sales, housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, point-of-sale operations, freight processing, and loss prevention in accordance with company policies and store standards. The associate may also assist other departments as needed and perform additional assigned duties.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of proper firearm-handling skills.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing work environments and shift priorities accordingly.
• Familiarity with operating a computer system and email.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Must be at least 21 years of age to comply with firearm and ammunition handling requirements.

• Familiarity with standard retail concepts and practices.

Responsibilities

• Greet and acknowledge customers, answer questions, and help them locate products.
• Use Gun Store Master and complete state-mandated background-check processes.
• Complete firearm sales and transfers in accordance with company policy and applicable state laws and regulations.
• Handle firearms properly and safely.
• Complete purchase transactions correctly, particularly those involving firearms.
• Answer incoming phone calls.
• Maintain radio communication with other associates.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold by Country Supplier (CAL Ranch & Coastal Farm and Ranch), product information, and merchandise promotions.
• Assist with floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and store housekeeping.
• Help in other departments when needed.
• Perform daily cleaning, including vacuuming, replacing full trash bags, and sweeping the department floor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
