The Sponsorship Specialist leads the end-to-end administration, verification, and processing of external student sponsorships, ensuring full compliance with institutional and sponsor standards. Serving as the primary operational contact, this role efficiently manages high-volume inquiries from students, sponsors, and internal partners. Utilizing internal databases, the Sponsorship Specialist audits account balances, tracks funding, and generates key financial reports to prevent over-awarding. As a key student-facing resource, this role delivers empathetic, clear guidance on account statuses while collaborating across the institution to support student success within a technical college setting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with three (3) years of related administrative or financial support experience (e.g., accounts receivable, billing, records verification, or customer account support).
  • Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the procedures used in maintaining ledger accounts.
  • Ability to make, post, and verify computations with speed and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and software specific to position, including spreadsheets, Word and the Internet.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and execute tasks in a reactive environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
  • Ability to establish, collaborate and maintain effective work relationships with peers, students, teachers, staff, representatives of outside agencies, educational institutions, and the general public.
  • Ability to convey an image of professionalism and dedication in work related activities.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse student and employee populations.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and software specific to position, including spreadsheets and the Internet.
  • Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision and serve as a leadership role to others.
  • Ability to establish workflows, manages multiple projects, and meets necessary deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Business or a similar field.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in higher education (Bursar, Financial Aid, or Registrar), specifically handling external funding, sponsorships, or student accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Independently review, verify, create, modify, and award external sponsorships to student accounts.
  • Ensure all funding is applied timely and accurately according to specific criteria to prevent over-awarding.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the dedicated sponsorship inbox.
  • Triage, prioritize, and resolve inquiries from students, donors, and internal departments with speed and professionalism.
  • Evaluate financial documents and calculate aid or financial allocations strictly based on established guidelines, ensuring complete fairness and freedom from bias.
  • Safeguard all personal, financial, and institutional records in strict accordance with relevant privacy frameworks (e.g., FERPA, GLBA, GDPR) and organizational policy.
  • Utilize internal and external reporting systems and databases to track sponsorships, audit account balances, and pull reports.
  • Provide empathetic, clear, timely, and accurate guidance to students regarding their sponsorship status, account balances, and next steps.
  • Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community Colleges.
  • Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

  • Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2026/2027 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
