About The Position

This role is responsible for directing craft persons, foremen, and general foremen, with a requirement of having more than two general foremen direct reports. The position involves checking the adequacy of existing job/task methods and procedures, and providing appropriate, on-the-spot corrective action when needed. The Senior General Foreman will instruct journeymen in specific craft tasks, including safety procedures and techniques, and must be knowledgeable of other craft disciplines to ensure work coordination and prevent jurisdictional conflicts. Key responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints, understanding job specifications, implementing Bechtel job procedures and work rules, and inspecting finished work for quality and completeness. The role also requires understanding the work scope, project priorities, and schedules, and ensuring planned work is completed on schedule. Identifying potential problems in a timely manner and taking quick remedial action when work deviates from drawings, specifications, code requirements, or accepted construction standards is crucial. Additionally, the Senior General Foreman must be familiar with project cost control procedures and committed to staying within established cost goals and unit rate standards, as well as ensuring accurate reports are submitted regarding time sheets, backcharges, quantity, and work status. Requirements

  • Must have more than 2 general foremen direct reports.
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years BCS or Bechtel experience.
  • Typically has 6 years industrial construction experience with 2 years in Supervisory roles.

Responsibilities

  • Identify practices and conditions that are safe as well as those that are at risk and provide appropriate, on-the-spot corrective action if needed.
  • Direct craft persons, foremen, and general foremen.
  • Check the adequacy of existing job/task methods and procedures.
  • Provide appropriate, on-the-spot corrective action.
  • Instruct journeymen in specific craft tasks including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Be knowledgeable of other craft disciplines in order to effect work coordination between crafts and to prevent jurisdictional conflicts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, understand job specifications, implement Bechtel job procedures and work rules, and inspect finished work for quality and completeness.
  • Understand the work scope and integrate priorities of the project.
  • Understand work priorities and schedules.
  • Complete planned work on schedule.
  • Identify potential problems in a timely manner.
