About The Position

August Schell is seeking an experienced and cleared Splunk Consulting Engineer (Onsite, Washington, DC) to join our Engineering team supporting federal civilian projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver high-impact solutions within the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community, leveraging Splunk technologies to modernize cybersecurity environments. The ideal candidate will have deep Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) experience, strong consulting and client-facing skills, and the ability to work effectively in complex, cleared environments.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance and ability/willingness to undergo lifestyle polygraph.
  • 3+ years of experience deploying and managing Splunk in enterprise or federal environments.
  • Splunk Architect certification
  • Demonstrated expertise in Splunk Enterprise Security (ES).
  • Experience working with both Unix/Linux and Windows systems.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a client-facing consulting capacity.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Washington, DC.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience integrating Splunk with GitLab and/or Kubernetes environments.
  • Additional Splunk accreditations such as Enterprise Security (ES) Accreditation or Consultant Certification.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture and federal cybersecurity frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Splunk implementation and optimization efforts across a variety of federal customer environments.
  • Drive complex deployments of Splunk Enterprise and Enterprise Security (ES) in cleared customer environments.
  • Design and implement solutions that align with Zero Trust and cybersecurity modernization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders to assess requirements and propose innovative solutions.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of Splunk environments.
  • Support integration with tools such as GitLab and Kubernetes (preferred).
  • Develop and document technical procedures and provide knowledge transfer to client teams.
  • Maintain compliance with all clearance and security protocols, including lifestyle polygraph requirements.
