About The Position

The Spiritual Caregiver provides spiritual and emotional support to patients and families, addressing their religious and spiritual needs. This role involves working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and worldviews, offering comfort during times of illness, grief, and loss. The caregiver is expected to document patient interactions in an EMR system and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. A commitment to the philosophy of hospice care is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • One year of healthcare chaplaincy experience required.
  • Ability to be open, flexible, and ecumenical in ministry.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population and a variety of world views.
  • Subscribes to the chaplain code of ethics as articulated by the Association of Professional Chaplains.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the emotional and spiritual effects of death, grief, and loss with at least one year of experience in parish or related ministry.
  • Working experience charting in an EMR system (Netsmart system preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Licensed driver with an automobile in good working condition and insured in accordance with state and agency requirements (homecare).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the philosophy, goals and objectives of Hospice.
  • Possesses a willingness to expand knowledge and capabilities in the field of Hospice.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Netsmart system experience preferred.
