About The Position

The Spiritual Counselor will conduct in-depth interviews with newly admitted beneficiaries, perform counseling and spiritual assessments, and manage self-sufficiency matrices. This role involves assisting beneficiaries in overcoming social and emotional problems through individual and group spiritual counseling, and designing and managing individual rehabilitation plans. The counselor will monitor the effectiveness of these plans, adapt goals as needed, and utilize the ARC program along with ancillary services from community agencies. Responsibilities also include maintaining secure online beneficiary files, completing weekly case notes and progress reports, and developing special projects as assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation Services. The role requires assessing spiritual needs, making referrals, participating in training to enhance counseling skills, and accurately entering data into the electronic management system. The Spiritual Counselor must also support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth interviews with newly admitted beneficiaries (counseling and spiritual assessments, self-sufficiency matrix, short form, and full intakes).
  • Assist beneficiaries to understand and overcome social and emotional problems, through individual/group spiritual counseling.
  • Design and manage individual rehabilitation plans for beneficiaries. Monitor beneficiaries to evaluate effectiveness of rehabilitation program and adapt rehabilitation goals and plan as needed. Utilize the program offered by the ARC, and when necessary, ancillary services from other community agencies.
  • Maintenance and security of active online beneficiary files. Secure appropriate background information from other agencies and institutions. Complete weekly case notes, weekly rehabilitation plan progress notes and add appropriate services to each beneficiary file in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement special projects, programs, and services as assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
  • Assess spiritual needs of beneficiaries, make referrals to Chaplain or Administrator as needed.
  • Participate in In-Service Training and local seminars/workshops to enhance counseling skills.
  • Accurately complete data entry of case notes and services in current electronic data management system within assigned deadlines.
  • Support the mission statement of The Salvation Army.
