Spiritual Care Counselor - Hospice
About The Position
Vivie is seeking a compassionate Spiritual Care Counselor to join their Hospice team. This part-time role involves providing spiritual and emotional support to patients and their families, acting as a liaison with community clergy, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. The counselor will offer prayer, life review, counseling, crisis intervention, and bereavement support, adapting care to individual beliefs and preferences. Accurate documentation of patient care plans is essential. This position requires strong interpersonal, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, along with a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a background check. The role is hourly, non-exempt, and involves regular travel to client homes within the region.
Requirements
- Exceptional interpersonal and listening skills to provide meaningful support.
- Strong oral and written communication to document care effectively.
- Ability to work with diverse beliefs and honor individual spiritual preferences.
- Emotional intelligence to support patients, families, and staff with sensitivity and empathy.
- Valid driver's license and access to an insured personal vehicle.
- Ability to pass state mandated background check.
- Physical capability to perform all essential job functions.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to ensure effective communication with staff, patients, and families.
Responsibilities
- Offer prayer, life review, and counseling to patients and families, adapting care to individual beliefs and preferences.
- Build relationships with community clergy and connect patients with spiritual care services as needed.
- Collaborate with hospice staff to integrate spiritual care into patient-centered care plans.
- Assist families and caregivers through grief, trauma, and stress, providing compassionate guidance during difficult times.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient needs, interventions, and family support efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
