About The Position

Vivie is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Spiritual Care Counselor to join our Hospice team. This part-time role involves providing spiritual and emotional support to patients and their families, acting as a liaison with community spiritual resources, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to adapt care to diverse beliefs and preferences. Responsibilities include offering prayer, life review, counseling, crisis intervention, bereavement support, and accurate documentation of care plans. Regular travel to client homes within the region is required.

Requirements

  • Exceptional interpersonal and listening skills to provide meaningful support.
  • Strong oral and written communication to document care effectively.
  • Ability to work with diverse beliefs and honor individual spiritual preferences.
  • Emotional intelligence to support patients, families, and staff with sensitivity and empathy.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to an insured personal vehicle.
  • Ability to pass state mandated background check.
  • Physical capability to perform all essential job functions.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to ensure effective communication with staff, patients, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Offer prayer, life review, and counseling to patients and families, adapting care to individual beliefs and preferences.
  • Build relationships with community clergy and connect patients with spiritual care services as needed.
  • Collaborate with hospice staff to integrate spiritual care into patient-centered care plans.
  • Assist families and caregivers through grief, trauma, and stress, providing compassionate guidance during difficult times.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient needs, interventions, and family support efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
