About The Position

AccentCare is hiring a PRN Spiritual Care Counselor / Chaplain serving Renton, Washington, and King County. This is not a remote or virtual position, and hours can vary. The role provides spiritual care to hospice patients and their families, supports grief and bereavement needs, and partners with patients, families, and their communities of faith. Compensation is $25–$40 per hour, based on years of experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university, or divinity school.
• Ordained, credentialed, or commissioned according to the practices of a legitimate and recognized religious organization or faith tradition.
• Three Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) units from ACPE; equivalencies are granted according to established guidelines of individual professional organizations.
• At least one year of supervised experience in a medical, educational, or religious agency or institution.
• Ability to provide interfaith spiritual care, demonstrating cultural and theological competence when working with diverse faith and belief systems.
• Experience or education in grief or loss counseling.

Responsibilities

• Support families and communities through anticipatory grief and post-death bereavement processes.
• Complete a comprehensive spiritual-needs assessment of each hospice patient and their family-of-choice.
• Serve as a liaison to the patient’s and family’s community of faith.
• Respond to patient and family needs.
• Support the patient’s and family’s clergy or other spiritual caregiver in relation to the patient’s terminal illness.
• Build caring relationships with people on their spiritual journeys and empower them to draw on identified sources of strength and support.
