About The Position

Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a compassionate Spiritual Care Chaplain to join our team in Broward. This position is full time and services the Broward County area. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., helping ensure patients, families, and staff receive a smooth, supportive experience during an important stage of care. Please note there is one weekend shift per 6 weeks. Since 1978, Trustbridge Hospice has cared for more than 200,000 South Florida families. As a community-based nonprofit, we provide 24/7 hospice and palliative care, along with caregiver support and bereavement services for families facing serious illness.

Requirements

  • Board certified chaplain with Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, Neshama Association of Jewish Chaplains, Canadian Association for Spiritual Care, College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy, or Spiritual Care Association strongly preferred. If not, must be eligible and willing to work towards attaining board certification within the first two years of employment.
  • Master of Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Care, or related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent level of preparation as determined by their faith group.
  • Minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education. Four units preferred.
  • One to two years of previous experience in spiritual leadership and inter-faith ministry strongly preferred.
  • Ability to take a leadership role in change management and conflict resolution.
  • Compassion for and understanding of ministry to the terminally ill, their caregivers and families.
  • Must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must be able to provide proof of automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in their employee file.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate, spiritual, and emotional support to patients and families that are facing end-of-life, grief, and crisis situations.
  • Coordinate spiritual care services with community clergy to ensure patients and families receive appropriate, individualized religious or spiritual support.
  • Deliver spiritual counseling and guidance within diverse and ecumenical settings, including care for the dying and bereaved.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and concise documentation of patient records.
  • Participate in bereavement and community events, support organizational mission and goals, and adapt to environments that may include exposure to pets and smoke.
