Requirements

  • B.A degree in Theology.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in theology or related field
  • Certified Chaplain, CPE Education experience preferred.
  • Ordained Roman Catholic Priest in good standing, authorized to administer sacraments in accordance with Church doctrine.
  • Previous experience as a Chaplain in a clinical setting, computer skills.
  • 1 Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
  • English language.
  • Requires a good knowledge of Catholic theology, sacramental ministry, and pastoral care for the sick and dying; a strong compassion, communication skills, and the ability to support patients, families, and healthcare staff in emotionally challenging situations.

  • Board Certification preferred.
  • Spanish languages preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Visits patients and assess spiritual needs (Pastoral visitation).
  • Celebrates Mass, Administers the Sacraments, Hears Confessions and performs other rites requiring ordained priesthood.
  • Participates in an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care and patient health.
  • Documents visits and interventions appropriately according to the standards of the healthcare organization.
  • Provide a variety of Christian and Ecumenical and other duties as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
